As of January 2020, there were 580,466 people experiencing homelessness in the United States. Most of them (~70%) were individuals & the remaining were people living in families with children. Unsurprisingly, New York happens to be one of the states with the highest homeless populations. But it would be interesting to see how the other states measure up, and the various factors that impact the rates of homelessness in different states.
This study, using R statistical analyses, emphasizes the relationship of the rate of homelessness with gender, race, the median rent of a state, and the unemployment rate of a state.
